The guide asked me to hold the lantern and, to my surprise, dove into the river. Soon he was back on the boat holding a small caiman (relative of an alligator) tightly around the neck.

Three species of caiman live in the Amazon, the largest growing upwards of 30 feet in length. The eyes of the caiman reflect light, making them easy to find at night.

Três espécies de jacaré vivem no Amazonas, o maior cresce até 8 metros. Os olhos do jacaré refletem a luz, fazendo-os fácil de achar de noite.
